Management of the premises

The premises on which the Royal Castle in Chęciny — hereinafter referred to as the Castle — is located are the property of the Chęciny Commune, entrusted in permanent management to the organisational unit „Royal Castle in Chęciny". On this basis, the Unit is authorised to manage these premises.

Who these Rules apply to

All persons present on the Castle premises are required to comply with the provisions of these Rules.

Opening hours and visiting route

1. The Castle is open to visitors during the following hours:

   dApril – August9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

   eSeptember9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

   fOctober9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

   gNovember9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

   hDecember9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

   Visits take place daily, except for the days indicated in item 3.

2. The Castle ticket offices are open during the hours listed in item 1.
3. The Castle is closed on the following days:
   • 1 January
   • Easter Sunday
   • 1 November
   • 24 December
   • 25 December
   • 31 December
4. In the event of adverse weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice, storm, etc.), the Castle Director may close the entire Castle or specific areas to visitors, and reserves the right to change the opening hours referred to in item 1.

6. The Castle Director reserves the right to temporarily close attractions and points on the Visiting Route if necessary (breakdown, damage, destruction, conservation works, or other reasons).
7. Closures as referred to in § 3 items 4 and 6 do not constitute grounds for a full or partial refund of the ticket price.
8. During the visit and while using attractions, visitors must strictly follow the instructions of the Castle staff. Visitors are also required to comply with the prohibitions and requirements indicated by signs and boards placed on the Castle premises.

Activities requiring the Director's consent

Without the consent of the Director of the Royal Castle in Chęciny, the following is prohibited on the Castle premises:

1. conducting artistic, business or commercial activities (including the solicitation of services),
2. taking films and photographs showing the Castle's architecture for commercial purposes,
3. operating or flying drones within the Castle ruins and above the premises managed by the Castle,
4. organising gatherings, advertising campaigns or protests, or displaying banners, symbols and emblems,
5. entry for persons under the age of 15 unaccompanied by an adult.

What is not allowed on the Castle premises

On the Castle premises it is forbidden to:

1. bring in weapons or any objects and substances that may endanger life or health,
2. bring in animals, with the exception of guide dogs,
3. climb the Castle walls, tower walls, fenced-off areas or places excluded from tourist traffic,
4. throw any objects from the towers and walls,
5. consume alcohol on the premises, or visit the Castle after consuming alcohol, narcotics or other intoxicating substances,
6. behave loudly or run,
7. smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, etc.

Admission tickets

1. Visits to the Castle are permitted only on the basis of a valid admission ticket.
2. The purchase of an admission ticket is tantamount to acceptance of these Rules.
3. Admission tickets are sold at the Castle ticket offices, at the Chęciny Tourist Information Centre and at the „Niemczówka" townhouse, according to the current price list.
4. Visitors may receive a VAT invoice in accordance with applicable law.
5. Visitors are required to leave the Castle within 30 minutes after the ticket offices close.

Safety and order

1. The Castle premises are covered by a CCTV monitoring system.
2. With regard to safety and order at the Castle, visitors are required to comply with the instructions of the Castle staff.
3. Particular caution is advised when moving around the site. Visitors should take care on stone floors, sloping and uneven ground, and on steep, winding stairs. Special attention should be paid to the low ceilings in places marked with yellow-and-black tape.
4. Castle staff are not liable for luggage left by visitors on the Castle premises.
5. Luggage left unattended on the Castle premises may be removed by the appropriate services, and the owner may be charged for the cost of such action.
6. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear that allows safe sightseeing.
7. Children may move around the site only under the care of parents or legal guardians, who bear sole responsibility for their safety.
8. Guardians of children and school pupils are required to closely supervise the group during the visit and bear sole responsibility for their safety.
9. Injured parties are responsible for any bodily injuries and accidents resulting from violations of these Rules.
10. In the event of an immediate threat to the health or life of visitors, the Castle reserves the right to immediately cease the provision of services. On this basis, visitors will not be entitled to a refund of the ticket price.
11. In the event of an evacuation announcement, all persons present on the Castle premises are required to leave the site immediately via the nearest emergency exit and unconditionally comply with instructions from Castle staff and other authorised persons (e.g. firefighters, medical services, etc.).

Consequences of breaching the Rules

In the event of a breach of these Rules, Castle staff are entitled to take appropriate action. In particular, they have the right to caution persons behaving improperly, to issue a warning and, in case of non-compliance, to remove the person from the Castle premises. In case of refusal to leave, staff may call a police officer to intervene.
